Erakusketak emakumeek historian zehar itsasoarekin izan duten harremana ikuspegi orokorra aurkezten du, antzinatik itsas munduaren imaginarioan eta mitologian bete zuten lekua ahaztu gabe. Erakusketak gaiaren hurbilketa bat eskaintzen du, ikuspegi orokorretik abiatuta, baina arreta berezia jarriz Euskal Herriari dagokionez.
Emakumeen eta itsasoaren arteko harremana sakona eta modu anitzekoa izan da historian zehar. Itsaso ekonomiari dagokion esparruan emakumeek beren ahalegin eta antolakuntza ahalmenaren ekarpena egin dute mendeetan zehar. Beren lanak gizarte izaerako alor garrantzitsuak bete ditu komunitate arrantzale eta itsastarretan. Itsaso eginkizunetan emakumeen parte hartzearen garrantzia eztabaidaezina izanik ere, bere ekarpena aintzat hartzean, ordea, gabezia dagoela ezin da zalantzan jarri.
Las mujeres y el mar
La relación de las mujeres con el mar se muestra intensa y multiforme en el transcurso de la historia. En el ámbito de la economía marítima las mujeres han aportado a lo largo de los siglos su esfuerzo y su capacidad organizativa. Su trabajo ha cubierto también importantes áreas de carácter social en las comunidades pesqueras y marineras. Aunque la relevancia de la participación femenina en las actividades marítimas resulta incuestionable, no cabe duda de la existencia de un déficit en el reconocimiento público de su aportación.
Women and the sea
Women's relationship with the sea has been intense and diverse down through history. As far as the maritime economy is concerned, women have contributed their work and their organisational capacity throughout the centuries. Their work has also covered key social areas in the seafaring and fishing communities. Even though there is no doubt of the importance of the women's involvement in maritime activities, there is undeniably a shortfall in the public recognition of their contribution.

Esta exposición presenta una visión general de la relación que las mujeres han tenido con el mar a lo largo de
la historia sin olvidar el lugar que ocuparon desde tiempos antiguos en
el imaginario y la mitología del mundo marítimo. La muestra ofrece una
aproximación al tema desde una perspectiva global, aunque trata con
especial detenimiento lo relativo al espacio costero vasco.La relación de las mujeres con el mar se muestra intensa y multiforme en el transcurso de la historia. This exhibition to refer
the connection between the women and the sea through history. We could
not forget the place of that imagery and mythology of the maritime world
has had since the ancient times. The exhibition offered and tackles the
issue from a global view, even though carefully treat with the special
regard the Basque Coast.Women's relationship with the sea has been intense and diverse down through history. As far as the maritime economy is concerned, women have contributed their work and their organisational capacity throughout the centuries.
